The Hollick Wrattonbully vineyard with its rolling hills and stony soil is a fantastic site for quality wine grape production. The Wrattonbully vineyard was planted in 1998 and boasts similar shallow terra rossa soils over limestone to Coonawarra, but is marginally warmer resulting in slightly earlier ripening. Our Wrattonbully vineyard consistently produces low yields of fruit with intense flavour and colour.
The Hollick Shiraz displays the rare combination of power and elegance. There is an abundance of sweet Shiraz fruit flavours, but the wine retains a good balance and surprisingly supple tannins. Flavours and aromas of honeysuckle, passionfruit skins and roses typical to the Wrattonbully wine region underline the complexity of the wine and are in harmony with the primary black fruits of the Shiraz variety.
This wine is a fabulous match to venison and other rich meat dishes, and may be enjoyed now or carefully cellared for 5-7 years.
2013 Vintage Reviews
'Earthy and slightly meaty, this polished and richly flavoured shiraz has a musky, faintly peppery and briary bouquet whose aromas of cassis, blackberries and chocolatey oak are backed by a hint of roast meats. Its smooth and polished, long and juicy, but avoids jamminess, culminating in a savoury and mineral finish with a lingering fine grip from its firmish, powdery backbone. A wine of real character.' 91 Points
